Teen Vogue
- I helped fact-check Teen Vogue’s profile on Vivian Jenna Wilson, her first-ever cover story. I checked sections of the main story—which involved reviewing interview transcripts, an Elon Musk biography and more—as well as a companion piece detailing her hottest pop culture and social media takes.
“The Shade Room Is Covering Politics and News, But Some Say the Comments Are a Mess”
- To fact-check this piece, I went years back into a prolific media company’s Instagram (which is harder than it sounds), reviewed numerous reports on mis- and disinformation, and spoke with sources myself to track down necessary details. I collaborated with the writer, editors and Condé Nast legal team on everything from ensuring the piece’s claims were fair and well-reasoned to drafting outreach emails to named entities.
“I Ran for Office to Represent My Community and Was Punished”
- As the research editor for this op-ed, I reviewed the piece for factual accuracy and logical consistency. I worked closely with the writer, then-outgoing Oklahoma state Rep. Mauree Turner, and the Condé Nast legal team to ensure a clear factual basis for all arguments.
The Cut
Fall 2025 issue and Spring 2025 issue
- I served as one of the main copy editors for The Cut’s second and third print issues, reviewing pieces like a cover story about the incomparable Sarah Paulson and a spendy game of beauty Would You Rather. My work touched stories at every stage of the process: I did first reads in InCopy, coordinated with top editors and fact-checkers to finalize additional edits, provided backreads for other copy editors and looked at final proofs. I had eyes on nearly all the copy in the magazines at least once, if not multiple times.
New York Magazine
“How Does My Divorce Make You Feel?”
- In addition to my print work for the New York Magazine family, I also periodically copy edit stories for the website. I’m particularly proud of my work on this essay by Lilly Jay about her public divorce and its impact on her psychology practice. The essay was beautifully written, so I worked carefully to retain Jay’s voice while giving the piece a final polish. It was featured in the magazine’s reading recommendation newsletter, “One Great Story,” and went on to make waves online.
Vogue
“The Enduring Appeal of the Cowboy Boot”
- I copy edited and fact-checked this feature, reviewing it from top to bottom, including the display copy, captions and, of course, the body of the story.
“Kourtney Kardashian Barker’s Brand Is Launching an Ozempic-Style Supplement. Is It Legit?”
- This is another story I copy edited and fact-checked, which required delving into scientific research to ensure the piece accurately represented the risks and benefits of the supplements and medications mentioned.
Condé Nast Traveler
“This Italian City Is One of the Greatest Gluten-Free Travel Destinations”
- I copy edited and fact-checked this piece, diving deep into Italian resources for gluten-free eating—and working up quite an appetite in the process.
The Virginian-Pilot
“After years of attempts, parenthood comes at last for couple”
- I copy edited and fact-checked this story. I also wrote the headline, ensuring it fit the space provided for print.
The Independent Florida Alligator
“Tiffany Sessions suspect named”
- At the Alligator, I regularly copy edited and fact-checked our most ambitious stories, like this piece on a development in a missing student case that had stumped police for decades. The story goes beyond the typical breaking news brief, diving into the long history of the case, and I edited it on a tight deadline, ensuring it was ready for the next morning’s paper.
“Turlington Plaza preacher shares word of God, his life”
- As freelance editor, I sought out and screened submissions for the paper. For this piece, I worked closely with the reporter to prepare it for publication, providing multiple rounds of structural, content and line edits.
