Ahead of the pivotal 2022 midterm elections, NowThis hosted an exclusive forum with Joe Biden, his first with young people as president. As lead copy editor for the event, I copy edited and fact-checked everything from the landing page and associated materials to the full hourlong video and various follow-up pieces.
NowThis’ popular series “Who Is?” explores key political figures and their often complicated histories. This series is written with a very specific voice, so editing the episodes requires ensuring factual accuracy while maintaining the playful tone our audience loves. For our episode on Ron Johnson, I copy edited and provided fact-checking support for all versions: the YouTube video (above), the TikTok (left) and the web article.

“Tiffany Sessions suspect named”
At the Alligator, I regularly copy edited and fact-checked our most ambitious stories, like this piece on a development in a missing student case that had stumped police for decades. The story goes beyond the typical breaking news brief, diving into the long history of the case, and I edited it on a tight deadline, ensuring it was ready for the next morning’s paper.
